Published: April 24, 2019
Super Eagles defender Elderson Echiejile marked his official debut for HJK Helsinki with an assist in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at home in the Stadin derby against HIFK in a Finnish Veikkausliiga clash.
The Nigerian International looked solid both in defense and attack as he made his first appearance for the Finnish giants on Tuesday since joining the side from French club AS Monaco.
Echiejile provided the assist for teammate Akseli Pelvas in the 49th minute as the forward shot the hosts into the lead but Tiquinho equalised for HIFK in the 65th minute.
The HJK number 2 lasted 70 mins of the pitch before making way for O'Shaughnessy, his compatriot, Faith Obilor completed the whole 90 minutes.
The 31-year-old previously represented Stade Rennes, SC Braga, AS Monaco, Cercle Brugge, Standard Liege, Sporting Gijon, and Sivasspor all in Europe.
Echiejile has made a total of 60 appearances for the Super Eagles and he won the 2013 African Cup of Nations under the Late 'Big Boss' Stephen Keshi.
