Bordeaux Nigerian Striker Ruled Out For The Season After Suffering Cruciate Ligament Injury
Published: April 25, 2019The 2018-2019 season is over for Josh Maja, the former Super Eagles invitee who suffered an injury during Bordeaux's 2-1 loss to Nimes on Saturday, April 20.
20minutes.fr has confirmed that Maja is suffering from a distension of the cruciate ligaments of the left knee and the meniscus is also affected.
The striker's injury will sideline him for between six to seven weeks, meaning he'll not be involved in Bordeaux's last five matches of the season against Olympique Lyonnais, Angers SCO, Lille, Reims and Caen.
In the coming days, the 20-year-old Maja will undergo arthroscopy to repair his meniscus.
Signed from Sunderland in the January transfer window, the promising youngster netted his first goal for Bordeaux last weekend in his seventh appearance for the club.
Meanwhile, Super Eagles winger Samuel Kalu has not recovered from a hamstring complaint and will miss tomorrow's match against Olympique Lyonnais.
