Chelsea Plan To Replace Position Vacated By Ex-Nigeria Star With Legendary GK Cech
Published: April 27, 2019
Chelsea are reportedly planning to recruit Arsenal goalkeeper, Peter Cech in a backroom staff job when he hangs up his boots at the end of the season.
The Telegraph UK has revealed that the Blues are preparing a massive revamp of their managerial office and are confident of tempting the 36-year-old who remains a cult hero at the club.
Chelsea have yet to find a replacement for their technical director position which has been vacant since Michael Emenalo departed for Monaco in 2017 and the Czech is being touted to take up the post.
Emenalo who represented Nigeria at the 1994 World Cup spent seven massive years as the Blues technical director from 2011 heading their scouting and academy programs to great success, of which his eventual successor will try to emulate.
Cech had enjoyed a successful stint with the Blues after joining in 2004 from Stade Rennais, winning a total of four Premier League titles and same number of FA Cup honours, the UEFA Champions League and the Europa League.
It is no hidden fact that Cech's exit from the Emirates Stadium could push Gunners Nigerian goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo further up the pecking order next season, as the teenager has impressed the club's hierarchy in recent weeks.
