Prolific Nigerian Striker On Target As Arsenal Are Crowned U18 PL South Champions
Published: April 27, 2019
Arsenal have been crowned champions of the U18 Premier League South following their 3-0 rout of Fulham in their final game of the regular season on Saturday.
Regardless of the first team's position in the Premier League at the end of the season, the club would qualify for next season's UEFA Youth League if they beat Derby County or Liverpool in the national final.
Daley-Campbell gave the Gunners hope of winning the title when he broke the deadlock in the 76th minute before Folarin Balogun increased the lead nine minutes from time, then Trae Coyle put the icing on the cake with a goal in stoppage time.
Balogun is the highest-scoring 17-year-old in English Youth football, with his strike against the Cottagers his 24th of the season in the league alone.
Promising midfielder Miguel Azeez and Tammy Abraham's brother, Timmy started for Arsenal and Fulham respectively, with the latter going the distance.
Arsenal finished the regular season with 60 points from 22 matches, four more than nearest challengers Tottenham Hotspur who lost 4-3 to Leicester City today.
