Manchester United Set To Part Company With Nigeria-Eligible Fullback
Published: May 24, 2019
Manchester United are set to part company with one-cap United States international of Nigerian descent Matthew Olosunde in the coming weeks, according to reports.
The Daily Mail UK says the Nigeria-eligible right back is among the ten youngsters that will be allowed to leave the Red Devils this summer and his name will be included on the released list when it is officially announced.
Premier League rules require all clubs to submit their retained and released lists by the third Saturday in May and it is likely that United have informed Olosunde of their decision not to retain him for the 2019-2020 season.
Signed from New York Red Bulls in January 2016, Olosunde was a key player for United's U23 side before he suffered a serious injury which kept him on the sidelines for several months.
Although primarily a right fullback, he is a versatile player who is capable of playing as a central defender, left back and right midfielder.
The 21-year-old has trained with Manchester United first team and was
named on the provisional rosters for Premier League matches against
Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in 2017.
