Ex-Eagles Wonderkid Hungbo Nets On Competitive Debut For Watford U23
Former Crystal Palace wonderkid Joseph Hungbo scored on his competitive debut for Watford U23s as they demolished Hull City 5-0 in their Professional Development League opener on Monday, August 12.

Hungbo's release by the Eagles at the end of the 2018-2019 campaign was somewhat surprising as he was one of the most promising players at the Academy.

While the 19-year-old had already scored for the Hornets U23 side in pre-season, he registered his name on the scoresheet in their first official match this season.

With 13 minutes remaining, the winger made a run inside the penalty area and his powerful left-footed strike from close range beat goalkeeper Will Mannion.

The Tigers played the last six minutes plus stoppage time with ten men after Danny Lupano was sent-off for a foul on Jayden Bennetts, who had come off the bench in the 71st minute.

Central defender Jamal Balogun, who joined the club in the summer transfer window, skippered the Watford U23s to victory.
