Chelsea Confirm Nigeria-Eligible Midfielder Is Set To Feature Alongside Teenage Star Hudson-Odoi
Published: September 12, 2019
Chelsea's official website has reported early team news ahead of Friday's Premier League 2 clash against Brighton & Hove at Stamford Bridge.
Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reece James are both set to be handed run-outs against the Seagulls after recovering from long-term injuries, and the news that concerns Nigerians is that the most promising teenager of Nigerian descent at The Blues, Faustino Anjorin is also in contention for the game.
''Ian Maatsen, Tino Anjorin and Tariq Lamptey, who scored an injury time equaliser against Tottenham last time out, are all expected to feature,'' Chelsea wrote.
Though he has a Nigerian father, Anjorin is an England youth international and debuted for the Young Lions U19 squad in Monday's 1-0 loss to Germany.
The versatile youngster has started three matches for Chelsea U23s so far this season and notched up assists in three consecutive matches.
Given the hype surrounding him in recent seasons, it will not be long before the midfielder makes his first team debut for Chelsea.
