Marcolino cousins, Oyono twins, Lemina brothers, Aubameyang named in Gabon squad to face Nigeria
Published: November 06, 2025
The Gabonese Football Federation (Fegafoot) on Thursday unveiled Gabon's squad for their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying playoff against the Super Eagles, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Panthers coach Thierry Mouyouma has selected a 26-man roster, although Hafia FC centre-back Mick Omfia will be unavailable for selection due to suspension after accumulating yellow cards.
Despite his ineligibility for the Nigeria clash, Mouyouma has chosen to include Omfia in the squad in anticipation of a possible appearance in the playoff final against either the Democratic Republic of Congo or Cameroon, should the Panthers advance.
An analysis of the squad reveals that the Gabonese coach has named three goalkeepers, ten defenders, six midfielders and seven forwards for the November internationals.
The squad is headlined by former Chelsea, Arsenal and Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, alongside Galatasaray midfielder Mario Lemina.
Family ties feature prominently in Mouyouma's selection, with two sets of brothers — Mario and Noah Lemina, and Antony and Jérémy Oyono who are twins — included in the squad.
Rennes loanee Jonathan Do Marcolino and his cousin Alan Do Marcolino also make the cut, further underlining the family connections within the Gabon side.
Gabon secured their place in the World Cup playoffs after finishing second in Group F with 25 points, eight more than Nigeria, who finished second in Group C.
