Versatile Midfielder Faustino Anjorin Impresses As Chelsea Set New Club Record
Published: September 14, 2019Chelsea U23s continued their brilliant start to the new Premier League 2 season with a 2-1 win against Brighton & Hove at Stamford Bridge on Friday evening, setting a new club record in the process.
Nigeria-eligible midfielder Faustino Anjorin got a taste of action against the Seagulls when he came off the bench to replace Callum Hudson-Odoi just after the hour mark.
Andrew Myers' side are unbeaten in five matches in the Premier League 2, something they had not managed to achieve in previous seasons since the formation of the Premier League 2 in the 2016-2017 campaign.
The young Blues lost their unbeaten record on matchday five during the inaugural Premier League 2 season and the following season they were beaten by Everton on match day three, while Derby County ended their unbeaten start on matchday three last season.
Anjorin was involved in the build-up to the second goal scored by Chelsea as his volley hit Brown and Marcel Lewis scored after the ball was not fully cleared by the Brighton defence.
The Blues were unlucky not to increase the lead when Brown hit the woodwork after latching on to a pass from Anjorin.
Anjorin, who recently made his debut for England U19s, has been involved in all the five games played by Chelsea in the Premier League 2 this season.
