Nigeria Set To Lose Abraham, Tomori To England As Southgate Unveils Squad For Euro Qualifiers
Published: October 03, 2019
The Nigeria Football Federation are on the verge of losing out on the services of Chelsea duo Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham, as both players have been included in Gareth Southgate's 25-man squad for the European Championship qualifiers.
There have been uncertainties surrounding the international future of both players as the Nigeria Football Federation are doing everything possible to convince them to play for the Super Eagles.
However, it appears the West Africa side are fighting a lost battle as both players could be cap-tied by the Three Lions of England when they tackle Czech Republic and Bulgaria in the Euro 2020 qualifiers.
Tomori's debut call-up to the squad could be traced to his brilliant start to the season while Abraham's return to the team is based on his obvious goalscoring feat for Frank Lampard's team.
Both players were in action in yesterday's 2-1 victory over Lille and Abraham was among the goalscorers as he opened his Champions League account for the season.
Another Chelsea player with Nigerian background, Ross Barkley has been named in the latest squad while Tottenham Hotspur's Dele Alli misses out.
