What Troost-Ekong Said Ahead Of Brazil Friendly; Udinese Star To Captain Eagles
Published: October 12, 2019
The Nigeria Football Federation have confirmed that Udinese defender William Troost-Ekong will captain the Super Eagles when they take on Brazil in a glamour friendly in Singapore on Sunday evening local time.
The former Tottenham Hotspur youth-teamer has insisted that the Super Eagles are not scared of facing the South Americans and are drawing inspiration from the performance of Senegal who held the five-time world champions to a 1-1 draw on Thursday.
Troost-Ekong will have a new defensive partner against Brazil, with Brighton's Leon Balogun and Leganes' Kenneth Omeruo not summoned for the game as a result of fitness issues.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Troost-Ekong said : ''Brazil is a top team, probably the best team in the world. But Senegal gave them a good fight on Thursday. We can pick some inspiration from that performance when we play the Brazilians on Sunday.
"It will be tough because they will want to win at least one game against an African team on this tour, but we will also want to take something off them''.
