What Barcelona, Real Madrid, Liverpool Said About Nigeria's 1-1 Draw Vs Brazil
Published: October 14, 2019European giants Real Madrid, Barcelona and Liverpool monitored proceedings at the National Stadium in Singapore as five-time world champions Brazil were held to a 1-1 draw by Nigeria on Sunday afternoon.
Although there's no Nigeria player representing the aforementioned clubs, five Brazil stars associated with the teams namely Philippe Coutinho, Arthur, Casemiro, Fabinho and Roberto Firmino were handed run-outs by Selecao boss Tite.
Here's what they said about the Brazil vs Nigeria friendly :
Writing on their official website, Barcelona noted that their former player Neymar had to be replaced after picking up an injury: ''For the second time this week, Brazil have drawn 1-1 with African opposition in Singapore. This time it was against Nigeria, with Arthur playing 80 minutes before being replaced by Fabinho.
''Glasgow Rangers striker Joe Aribo put the Super Eagles ahead and Real Madrid’s Casemiro levelled just before the break. The game also saw Neymar Jr limping off with injury after just 12 minutes''.
Real Madrid's official website hailed Casemiro for scoring the equaliser : ''Brazil ended their tour of Singapore with a draw against Nigeria. The African side went ahead in the first half but Casemiro levelled things up after 48’.
''Dani Alves crossed from the right, Marquinhos’ header struck the crossbar and Casemiro, alert to the rebound, finished well. The Real Madrid player had the chance to make it two shortly after from a corner, but his header came back off of the crossbar.''
European champions Liverpool stated : ''Fabinho and Roberto Firmino were both involved as Brazil played out a second successive 1-1 draw in their friendly double-header in Singapore.
''Nigeria were the opposition on Sunday, with Firmino starting the game and featuring for just over an hour and Fabinho entering the action for the final 10 minutes.''
