Liverpool Academy Product Adekanye Scores His First Professional Goal For Lazio
Published: February 02, 2020
Former Liverpool youth-teamer Bobby Adekanye has scored his first professional goal, 12 days before his 21st birthday, after finding the net for Lazio in their 5-1 rout of SPAL in the Serie A on Sunday afternoon, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Playing his seventh game as a professional, the Ibadan-born winger replaced Felipe Caicedo four minutes into the second half and repaid the faith of his coach by scoring Lazio's fifth goal nine minutes after his introduction.
He ran to celebrate with Lazio's team manager Stefan Derkum shortly after scoring.
Adekanye follows in the footsteps of Nigerian-born duo Stephen Makinwa and Eddy Onazi who previously scored for the Biancocelesti in the Serie A.
The leading scorer in the European Leagues, Ciro Immobile took his tally to 25 with a first half brace while two goals from Felipe Caicedo saw Lazio register a comprehensive win.
Adekanye didn't play a competitive game for the first teams of Liverpool, Barcelona and PSV Eindhoven before sealing a permanent transfer to Lazio last summer.
