Bayern Munich's Next Big Thing Zirkzee In Contention To Face Chelsea In Champions League
Published: February 11, 2020
Talented Dutch-Nigerian youngster Joshua Zirkzee is in line to face Chelsea on February 25th when Bayern Munich tackle the Blues in their round-16 tie of the UEFA Champions League, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The 2001-born striker who made his bow in the European competition against Tottenham in December 2019 was included in the Bavarians updated squad list for the knockout stages of the competition on UEFA's website.
Since earning promotion on the back of his sterling displays for the club's youth teams, Zirkzee has scored two league goals in two substitute appearances while he has also featured in the DFB Pokal.
He has been at the Allianz Arena since 2017 after spells with the youth teams of Spartaan '20, ADO Den Haag and Feyenoord.
With Ivan PerisiƧ whom he replaced on his debut ruled out of the trip to West London with injury, he could get game time to show off against the Premier League side.
He is eligible to represent Nigeria, as well as his country of birth Netherlands.
