Published: March 04, 2020
England youth international of Nigerian parentage, Folarin Balogun is in contention to win Arsenal Goal of the Month award for February 2020.
The Hale End Academy product has been included in an 11-goal shortlist unveiled by the official website of Arsenal, arsenal.com on Wednesday, March 4.
Balogun's eye-catching goals against Chelsea U23s and Manchester City U23s in Premier League 2 Division One matches have made the cut alongside efforts from Danielle van de Donk, Alfie Matthews, Vivianne Miedema, Nicolas Pepe, Mesut Ozil, Eddie Nketiah, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Catalin Cirjan and Alex Grd.
Against Chelsea on February 17, Balogun opened the scoring after 16 minutes when he curled a shot into the top corner from 25-yards out and eleven days later, he scored with a left-footed strike from inside the box against Manchester City.
The 18-year-old has tallied six goals in his last five games for Arsenal youth teams in all competitions, including a brace against a strong Monaco team in the Premier League International Cup on Tuesday night.
He is knocking on the door of the first team, having trained with the squad on several occasions this season.
