Crystal Palace Ahead Of Manchester City, Watford, Leeds United In Race For 'Next Benjamin Mendy'

Crystal Palace have emerged as the frontrunners to sign promising Nigerian winger Samuel Oguntayo.

According to the Sun UK, the Eagles are leading reigning Premier League champions Manchester City in the race to sign the Kingstonian starlet.

Watford and Championship promotion hopefuls Leeds United are also interested in acquiring the services of the 17-year-old after catching the eye in the Non League.

Having scouted Oguntayo for eighteen minutes during Kingstonian's 4-2 loss to Cheshunt on Wednesday, Crystal Palace have stolen a march on their rivals by inviting the teenager to train with their U23 team at Copers Cope Road base.

Described as a pacy player and capable of playing as a left-back, he has drawn comparisons to Manchester City's Benjamin Mendy.

Oguntayo started the season with Kingstonian's U18 team, before signing first team papers with the club in January 2020.
