Championship : Ajayi Secures Promotion To Premier League With West Brom; QPR's Eze Strikes
Published: July 22, 2020
Super Eagles center back Semi Ajayi is in line to make his debut in the English Premier League next season after West Brom secured promotion to the top-flight following their 2-2 draw with Queens Park Rangers on Wednesday evening, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The Baggies are back but the draw wouldn't have been sufficient for them if Brentford had managed to win against Championship strugglers Barnsley.
Ajayi played alongside Kyle Bartley in West Brom's central defence, his 43rd league appearance, in what was a breakout season for the former Arsenal U23 skipper.
Ryan Manning opened the scoring for the visitors with a shot from 20 yards out, but the hosts hit back just before half-time, Grady Diangana the scorer.
Callum Robinson, on 49 minutes, put West Brom 2-1 up, but a moment of individual brilliance from Eberechi Eze in the 61st minute earned the London team a share of the spoils.
The Nigeria Football Federation target is being linked with a move to the Premier League and could be battling Ajayi again next season.
