Sheffield Wednesday Defender Committed To Nigeria; Also Eligible For England, Netherlands
Published: July 25, 2020
Allnigeriasoccer.com has been told that the international future of Sheffield Wednesday rising star Osaze Urhoghide lies with Nigeria though he is eligible to represent two European giants.
The Star UK says the versatile defender is on the radar of three different nations - Nigeria, England and Netherlands - and they are monitoring his progress at Hillsborough.
However, it is understood that Urhoghide is fully committed to Nigeria and willing to wait for his chance to play international football for the Super Eagles.
He was born in the Netherlands to Nigerian parents twenty years ago and is eligible for England as he has lived in the country for roughly fifteen years.
The Nigeria Football Federation have made the first step to cap him by inviting him to a Nigeria U23 training camp before the U23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Libya in 2019.
In the 2019-2020 season, Urhoghide made an explosive debut for Sheffield Wednesday against Premier League opposition in Brighton & Hove, helping goalkeeper Cameron Dawson to post a shutout in a 1-0 win in the FA Cup.
He extended his contract with Sheffield Wednesday by a further twelve months in June 2020.
