Steven Gerrard's Rangers Target Another Nigeria International To Bolster Squad
Published: July 27, 2020
Glasgow Rangers are set to firm up their interest in Nigeria international Josh Maja, according to reports.
Get French Football News has tweeted that The Light Blues will open transfer talks with Maja next week.
Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is believed to be in the market for a striker ahead of the new season with Alfredo Morelos heavily linked with a transfer to Lille, while experienced frontman Jermain Defoe is on the sidelines due to injury.
Young Bordeaux striker Maja had a direct hand in 11 goals (8 goals, 3 assists) from 24 matches over the course of the 2019-2020 campaign despite his limited playing opportunities.
The 21-year-old is represented by Emeka Obasi who brokered the deals that took Joe Aribo and Sheyi Ojo to Rangers last summer and Golden Eaglets invitee Malcolm Ebiowei to the club in February 2020.
The 54-time Scottish league champions recently bolstered their squad with the signing of Nigeria international center back Leon Balogun on a 1+1 year deal.
