Osimhen's Market Value Reaches All-time High Ahead Of Completing His Move To Napoli
Published: August 03, 2020
Victor Osimhen's transfer market value has reached an all-time high ahead of the striker completing his move to Italian Serie A club Napoli, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Transfermarkt has updated the values of Ligue 1 players, with the Nigeria international now rated at 40 million euros - a three-way tie for the eighth most valuable player in the Ligue 1 along with Lyon's Moussa Dembélé and AS Monaco's Wissam Ben Yedder.
Osimhen was valued at €27 million on April 8 but despite being inactive since March due to the coronavirus pandemic, he has reached his highest market value as a result of several European clubs battling for his signature, a race eventually won by Napoli.
His latest market value raises questions over the transfer fee Napoli paid to sign him from Lille as he was overvalued by 40 million euros, if performance-related bonuses are included.
Osimhen is currently the second most valuable Nigerian player behind Leicester City's Wilfred Ndidi, most valuable Lille player, ranks tenth among 1998-born players and 17th when it comes to players classed as center forwards in the world.
His transfer to Napoli will be rubber-stamped by football's governing body, FIFA when the Italian transfer window officially opens for business on September 1, 2020.
