Cork City Striker Egbuloniu Impresses At Ireland Trials; Was On The Radar Of Ex-Nigeria Coach
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that the Football Association of Ireland remain in pole position ahead of their Nigerian counterparts for the services of highly-rated dual national Cork City striker Lauren Egbuloniu.

Egbuloniu is back doing what she knows best after suffering a career-threatening injury that required surgery and a lengthy rehabilitation period.

Last weekend, she made her comeback after she was out of action for 474 days, playing the last 16 minutes of a 3-1 loss to Shelbourne on the opening day of the Women's National League.

The Irish Federation was in touch with Egbuloniu a month ago, handing her a call-up for an U19 training camp but she couldn't travel to Dublin because she was yet to be given the green light by the doctors to resume full training.

The Irish U19 coach ran the rule over the exciting striker last Saturday in her comeback game and invited her for another trial in Waterford.

She attended a trial with the Republic of Ireland U19s on Wednesday, August 12 and there's every indication that her name will be added to the roster after impressing the coaching staff.

Former Nigeria coach Thomas Dennerby was keeping tabs on the progress of Egbuloniu with a view to a call-up to one of the national teams and personally contacted her prior to her spell on the sidelines.

The 2002-born Egbuloniu qualifies to represent Nigeria through her her Nigerian dad.
