Uwakwe Scores With A Powerful Strike To Help Chelsea To Friendly Win Vs The Eagles
Published: August 31, 2020
Chelsea development squad beat Crystal Palace 3-1 in a pre-season
friendly staged at Cobham on Saturday afternoon, with Tariq Uwakwe among
the scorers for the home team, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The
Chelsea U23 squad featured England international Danny Drinkwater and
Ghanaian Baba Rahman who didn't travel with the first team to Brighton
for a friendly.
Ten minutes into the game, Uwakwe put Chelsea in front with a powerful strike from close range.
Uwakwe
was involved in the build-up to the second goal when John Russell
blasted home a rebound after the Anglo-Nigerian saw his shot from 20
yards out palmed away.
With the scores at 2-1 after Scott
Banks pulled a goal back for the Eagles, Uwakwe had a chance to restore
Chelsea's two-goal cushion but his long-range shot went over the bar.
Last
season, the 20-year-old appeared in 11 matches for Chelsea in the
Premier League 2, scoring one goal, and also represented the Blues in
the EFL Trophy.
