'Chelsea Are Going To Be A Top Side' - West Ham's Odubeko Can't Wait To Face PL 2 Champions
Published: September 10, 2020
Mipo Odubeko is eagerly looking forward to facing Chelsea in West Ham's Premier League 2 opener at Kingsmeadow on Monday.
While Chelsea were crowned winners of the Premier League 2 Division 1 in the curtailed Academy season, the Hammers secured promotion to the top level of English youth football by virtue of finishing first in the Premier League 2 Division 2.
Having made his non-competitive debut for West Ham's first team in pre-season, Odubeko enhanced his growing reputation with a stunning brace against Southend United in an EFL Trophy clash on Tuesday night.
The former Manchester United wonderkid netted on his debuts for West Ham in the FA Youth Cup, EFL Trophy, Premier League 2 Division 2 and U18 Premier League and will be hoping to do the same in his first appearance in the Premier League 2 Division 1.
Speaking to West Ham's official website, Odubeko stated : "I think we can do anything. Chelsea are going to be a top side and we know that, but we won the league last year and we’ve played and beaten teams from the top division and that makes us a top side.
"I think it’ll be a really good game and I can’t wait for it."
Odubeko has tallied 12 goals in all competitions for West Ham's youth teams since he joined the club last October.
