Arsenal Goalkeeper Martínez Delighted With Okonkwo's Return To Fitness
Published: September 10, 2020
Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez is delighted with Arthur Okonkwo's return to fitness after a year on the sidelines.
One of the understudies to the Argentine glovesman at the Gunners, the Nigerian youngster, who celebrated his nineteenth birthday on Wednesday, saw his progress hampered by an undisclosed injury throughout the 2019-2020 season.
It was a season that promised much for Okonkwo if not his injury as former Arsenal manager Unai Emery was supposed to take Okonkwo to the United States for the pre-season
games against Colorado Rapids, Bayern Munich, Fiorentina and Real Madrid.
The 19-year-old has trained alongside Martinez on at least two occasions this pre-season ahead of their trip to Craven Cottage to face Fulham in their Premier League opener.
"Good to see @arthurokonkwo_ back to top form after a difficult year for him ❤️ #gkunion #solidtraining," Martinez posted on Twitter.
Arsenal still have high hopes on Okonkwo and have opened talks with the goalkeeper's representatives over a new deal.
