Done Deal : Former Flying Eagles Midfielder Obinna Nwobodo Joins Goztepe
Published: September 17, 2020
Through a statement on their official website, Turkish Super Lig side Goztepe SK have announced the capture of former Nigeria U20 international Obinna Nwobodo, 23.
The midfielder has inked a three-year deal, keeping him at Goztepe until the end of the 2022-23 season.
Nwobodo is the second Nigerian player acquired by Goztepe in the summer transfer window, after 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winning striker Brown Ideye.
A product of Enugu Rangers, he joined újpest FC in the summer of 2017 and departs the Hungarian club after 114 appearances, scoring 15 goals and providing 22 assists.
He was a key member of the Flying Eagles squad at the 2015 U20 AFCON but was not in the traveling party to New Zealand for the World Cup after suffering a cruciate ligament injury.
Goztepe started the season in brilliant fashion, thrashing Denizlispor 5 - 1 on matchday one with Ideye bagging an assist on his full debut.
They travel to Yeni Malatyaspor on Friday, September 18.
