Three Attack-minded Players Of Nigerian Descent Named In Netherlands Youth Teams Provisional Squad
Published: September 21, 2020
Three attack-minded players of Nigerian descent have been included in Netherlands youth teams provisional squads ahead of upcoming games in October, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Bayern Munich striker Joshua Zirkzee is in the frame to make his debut for Netherlands U21s as he has been included in a 32-man preliminary list by coach Erwin van de Looi.
Jong Oranje will face Gibraltar on Thursday 8 October in a European Championship qualifier at the De Koel Stadium in Venlo and five days later they have an away match against Cyprus.
Sparta Rotterdam's Emanuel Emegha has been rewarded for his first team breakthrough, with the center forward included in Netherlands U18s 34-man provisional squad list for two friendly matches against France on October 9 and 11.
The 17-year-old came off the bench in Sparta Rotterdam's first two games of the new Eredivisie season against Ajax Amsterdam and Vitesse.
Emegha's only appearance to date for Netherlands youth teams was against England U15s in December 2017.
He is joined in the squad by the uncapped Ajax Amsterdam winger Joel Ideho who scored against FC Midtjylland in the quarterfinals of last season's UEFA Youth League in August 2020.
