'Hopefully I Can Give The Manager A Migraine' - Everton's Iwobi Eyes More Starts After First Goal In 2020
Published: September 23, 2020
Alex Iwobi is eyeing more starts for Everton after his impressive performance in the Toffees 5-2 rout of Fleetwood Town in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening.
For the first time in his Everton career, the Nigeria international bagged a goal and assist in the same game, ending a goal drought that stretched back to September 1, 2019.
Until today's game at Highbury Stadium, Iwobi had not gone the distance for Everton in all competitions since a 1-1 draw with Manchester United on December 15, 2019.
The former Arsenal star is hoping manager Carlo Ancelotti is going to have a headache selecting the players to start in subsequent matches in the light of his performance against Fleetwood Town.
"It was good experience for me to get 90 minutes under my belt as I'm trying to get fit for all competitions so it was good for the manager to give me the opportunity today," Iwobi said to Sky Sports via Liverpool Echo.
"It's always good to score but the main thing is the team goes through to the next round so I'm glad I was able to help.
"Everyone wants to play so hopefully I can give the manager a migraine and get involved as much as I can."
