Osimhen Marks Full Debut With First Goal Contribution For Napoli In 6-0 Rout Of Genoa
Published: September 27, 2020
Victor Osimhen made his full competitive debut for Napoli as they demolished Genoa 6-0 at the Stadio San Paolo in Naples on Sunday evening, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The Super Eagle came close to breaking the deadlock as early as the sixth minute but saw his effort saved by goalkeeper Federico Marchetti.
Hirving Lozano gave the Blues the lead in the tenth minute and the first half half came to an end without any further goals.
A minute into the second half, Piotr Zielinski doubled the advantage after an excellent play from Osimhen to set up the goal.
It was the Nigeria international's first goal contribution in a Napoli shirt since his big money move from Lille in the ongoing transfer window.
Additional goals from Dries Mertens, Lozano, Eljif Elmas and Matteo Politano in a space of fifteen minutes saw Gennaro Gattuso's side register a comprehensive win on matchday two.
Napoli number 9, Osimhen went the full ninety in his first start for the club and picked up his first caution in the Italian Serie A in the 90th minute.
Napoli have had a great start to the season, winning their opening two games, scoring eight goals without conceding and top the table thanks to their better goal difference over AC Milan and Hellas Verona.
