Atlanta Olympics gold medalist, Taribo West is delighted that the Nigeria Football Federation have arranged a friendly with African champions Algeria next month.
The former Auxerre and Inter Milan defender noted that the Algerians have several exciting players in their ranks, including Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez.
Algeria progressed to the final of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations after beating Nigeria 2-1, with Mahrez netting the game-winning goal via a sensational free-kick with the last kick of the game.
Speaking to Le Buteur, West stated : "Algeria is a huge football power, with a lot of great players that I had the pleasure of knowing and who are currently in big clubs in Europe like the one playing in Manchester City there ..."
Asked if he was referring to Mahrez, West answered : "Exactly! He is a great player, he is in good form and I hope that against Nigeria, we will see him even more efficient to enjoy his technique.
"I consider him ONE of the best players in the world, that's why I'm very happy with the organization of this match."
Nigeria will face off with Algeria at the Jacques Lemans Arena (St. Veit an der Glan) on October 9, before meeting Tunisia four days later.
