Former Chelsea Defender Omeruo, Four Other Eagles Report For International Duty in Austria
Published: October 05, 2020
Former Chelsea central defender Kenneth Omeruo is one of the early arrivals at the Super Eagles camp in Austria ahead of Friday's glamour international friendly with African champions Algeria, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Joining the CD Leganes star in camp are two fresh invitees in the shape of Red Bull Salzburg loanee Samson Tijani and CSKA Moscow summer signing Chidera Ejuke, plus French-based wingers Samuel Kalu and Moses Simon.
Omeruo's availability for the international fixtures in October had been in doubt after he suffered an injury in a pre-season friendly against Albacete Balompié exactly a month ago.
However, his injury problems are over as he went the distance in each of Leganes' last two matches in the Segunda Division.
Omeruo has not started a game for the Nigerian national team since going the distance against Tunisia at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, with William Troost-Ekong and Semi Ajayi ahead of him in manager Gernot Rohr's pecking order of center backs.
The Super Eagles will be staying at the Hotel Die Zeit located in the centre of St.Veit/Glan in Carinthia while in Austria.
Rohr's team have been inactive since November 17, 2019 when they thrashed Lesotho 4-2 in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
