Flying Eagles Hopeful Makes Debut For Arsenal U18; Also Eligible For England And Uganda
Published: November 01, 2020
Talented goalkeeper Ovie Ejeheri finally made his competitive debut for Arsenal U18 in a 5-1 hammering of Norwich City in the U18 Premier League South on Saturday afternoon, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The 2003-born glovesman was an unused substitute on eight occasions in the league before making the starting lineup against the Canaries.
Ejeheri impressed in his maiden appearance for the Young Gunners and did not pick the ball out of his own net until four minutes from time when Alex Matos netted a consolation goal for the visitors.
Arsenal were three goals to the good at half time, courtesy of Khayon Edwards' early opener and a brace from Kido Taylor-Hart.
Kido Taylor-Hart earned himself a hat-trick in the 62nd minute before Luke Plange netted to make it 5-0 with 18 minutes remaining.
A second year scholar at Arsenal, Ejeheri has opted to commit his international future to Nigeria, rather than Uganda and England, and is age-eligible to represent the current Flying Eagles.
The 17-year-old has cited Italy and Juventus great Gianluigi Buffon as his role model.
