'It Came At An Important Time' - Super Eagles Target Celebrates First European Goal For PSV
Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven are back in contention to qualify for the last 32 of the UEFA Europa League after coming from two goals down to beat PAOK 3-2 at the PSV Stadion on Thursday.

With PSV manager Roger Schmidt keeping faith with the team that drew 1-1 at FC Twente last Sunday, former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Nonso Madueke was named in the starting XI.

The Greek visitors established a two-goal lead inside thirteen minutes through Varela and Tzolis before strikes from Gakpo and Madueke brought PSV level.

Madueke turned from provider to scorer when he finished with style inside the penalty area five minutes into the second half, netting his first goal in a European competition in his sixth appearance in the process.

Speaking to UEFA.com shortly after the game, Madueke said : "It was great for me to score [my first European] goal.

"It came at an important time in the game. I’m just happy to help my team whenever I can.

"I scored a lot of goals from an individual standpoint, but getting into the box and getting on the end of things is a part of my game I want to improve."

London-born Madueke is provisionally cap-tied to England having represented the Young Lions at the 2019 U17 EURO qualifiers but is on the radar of the Nigeria Football Federation with a view to a call-up to the Super Eagles following his first-team breakthrough at PSV.
