Published: January 01, 2021
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard promoted Nigeria-eligible winger cum attacking midfielder Faustino Anjorin to first team training on Friday ahead of his side's upcoming Premier League match against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.
Training pictures uploaded to social media by Henry Lawrence and Thiago Silva confirm that the Anglo-Nigerian starlet was involved in the penultimate workout at Cobham before the visit of the Citizens.
Anjorin featuring against Manchester City on Sunday may be a long shot but he is likely to be in contention for the Emirates FA Cup clash against League Two side Morecambe a week on Sunday.
He has made inroads at Chelsea in the last three years, making his debuts in the FA Youth Cup, U18 Premier League and UEFA Youth League while still a scholar.
With three first team appearances for Chelsea in the Premier League, Champions League and Carabao Cup, one of his targets is to play his maiden game in the FA Cup, having made the bench against Liverpool in the competition last season.
Anjorin has accumulated seven appearances for Chelsea youth teams in the current season and was involved in four goals (2 goals, 2 assists) in his last game for the U23s vs Manchester United.
