Snapped : Azeez Among Three-Nigeria Eligible Teenagers Promoted To Arsenal First Team Training
Published: January 05, 2021Defending champions Arsenal continued their preparations for the third round of the Emirates FA Cup against Newcastle United with a training session held at London Colney on Tuesday, January 5.
Training pictures published by the official website of the Gunners confirm that 18-year-old midfielder Miguel Azeez and 19-year-old striker Folarin Balogun trained with the first team stars including Willian, Alexandre Lacazette, David Luiz, Bukayo Saka, Thomas Partey and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Allnigeriasoccer.com can independently confirm that goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo, 19, was also monitored at close quarters by manager Mikel Arteta during today's training session.
The aforementioned Anglo-Nigerian players have not made their debuts for the Gunners in the FA Cup though Balogun and Azeez have appearances under their belts for the first team in this season's Europa League.
Having missed the whole of last season due to a long-term injury, Okonkwo has fully recovered and went the distance in the last two matches played by Arsenal in the Premier League 2.
The Arsenal vs Newcastle United FA Cup third round tie comes up at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, January 9, starting from 1830 hours.
