Guardiola Runs The Rule Over Nmecha Ahead Of Manchester City's Clash Vs Manchester United
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has promoted talented German-born midfielder of Nigerian descent Felix Nmecha to first team training ahead of his side's meeting with city rivals Manchester United in the semifinals of the Carabao Cup.

Nmecha was among the academy players the Spanish football tactician monitored during yesterday's workout with a view to their possible inclusion in the matchday squad.

The tri-eligible midfielder stands a good chance of making the squad against Manchester United as the EFL recently agreed to increase the number of substitutes permitted to be used in the semifinals and final of the Carabao Cup.

Nine substitutes can now be named in the matchday squad, with five permitted to take to the pitch during the 90 minutes and extra-time if applicable.

Guardiola handed the 2000-born Nmecha his professional debut in the semifinals second leg of the Carabao Cup in January 2019, bringing him on to replace Oleksandr Zinchenko for the last 23 minutes in a 1-0 win vs Burton Albion.

The England youth international has been named in City's matchday squad on nine other occasions and his other first team appearance was against Olympiakos in the Champions League two months ago.
