Fulham Coach Parker Names One Nigerian Teenager In Contention To Make Squad Vs QPR
Published: January 09, 2021
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Fulham boss Scott Parker has revealed that Nigeria-eligible teenager Sylvester Jasper is in contention to be named in the matchday squad in Saturday's third round Emirates FA cup fixture against Queens Park Rangers.
Eligible for Nigeria, England and Bulgaria at international level, Jasper has been named in the Cottagers matchday squad seven times in his Fulham career and went on to make three appearances as a substitute.
Parker says the 19-year-old Jasper and Fabio Carvalho have been training with the first team with a view to their inclusion in the matchday 20.
"They’ve only just come back working with us over the last week. With the squad being as big as it is, they’ve been away with the restrictions and bubbles," Parker said.
"They’ve been with us for the last week, but I think it’s been well-documented in terms of them being around that there’s an opportunity for them to get some minutes and get some experience. I’ve always wanted to do that.
"They’re two very, very good players who we think a lot of at the club. The academy has done a good job with them, so this could be an opportunity for them certainly to get some minutes or be around it in terms of the game."

Jasper made his professional debut for Fulham in last season's Emirates FA Cup loss to Manchester City, coming off the bench to replace Terence Kongolo in the 83rd minute.
