Three Teenagers Of Nigerian Descent Make Professional Debuts For Derby County
Published: January 09, 2021
Derby County will not be in the draw for the fourth round of the Emirates FA up following their 2-0 loss to non-league club Chorley at Victory Park Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Rams were forced to field their U18 and U23 academy stars after several first team players tested positive for coronavirus, paving the way for three teenagers of Nigerian descent to make their professional debuts for the Championship club.
Midfielder Osazee Aghatise who learnt his footballing trade at Manchester City before switching to Derby County in the summer of 2019 was named in the starting XI, while Ola Ibrahim, a product of the Manchester United academy, was brought on six minutes from time.
Talented Republic of Ireland U19 international Festy Ebosele replaced Aghatise nineteen minutes into the second half and the right-back was lively after coming on.
The visitors found themselves behind at the break, trailing through Connor Hall's tenth minute goal and Mike Calveley's deflected strike made it 2-0 six minutes from time.
Aghatise and Ebosele are 18-year-olds while Ibrahim was born in 2003.
