Southend United To Make Transfer Decision On Arsenal Midfielder Olayinka On Deadline Day
Published: January 31, 2021
Southend United will make a transfer decision on Arsenal midfielder James Olayinka on transfer deadline day, according to manager Mark Molesley.
The Anglo-Nigerian spent the first half of the season on loan at the League Two club but the agreement between the Shrimpers and Gunners expired on January 27.
Southend United offering Olayinka fresh terms is a little bit complicated because he is undergoing rehabilitation after suffering an ankle injury which is expected to keep him on the sidelines for at least four weeks.
In quotes carried by Southend Echo, Molesley stated : "If we want to do something with James Olayinka it needs to be done within the time restraints of the window.
"James is no stranger to us and we’ve liked what we’ve seen.
"He’s shown he has good attributes but we will assess everything tomorrow in its entirety.
"First of all we have to pick the bones out of this performance and make sure we get that right."

In sixteen appearances for Southend United, Olayinka netted three goals and was in action for 1,329 minutes.
