Nephew Of Former Super Eagles Star Nets Brace For Man City In Six-Goal Thriller Vs Man Utd U18
Published: February 13, 2021
Tai Sodje, nephew of former Super Eagles center back Sam Sodje, bagged a brace as Manchester City lost 4-2 to Manchester United in an U18 Premier League match at AON Training Complex on Saturday afternoon.
Despite racing into a two-goal lead, the Red Devils were nearly pegged back at the end of the game but eventually won 4-2.
Sodje was named in Manchester City's starting lineup, teammate Adedire Mebude was a non-playing substitute while there was a first squad involvement at this level for United's Maximilano Oyedele.
Four minutes before half-time, Sodje capitalised on a back pass to make it 2-1 after the ball was kicked out of play for injury but City allowed Charlie McNeill to grab his hat-trick to put any confusion to rest.
Three minutes after the restart, the Manchester City striker got his second of the afternoon, tapping in at the back post after a low ball from Carlos Borges, before McNeill added a fourth for United in injury time.
In twelve outings for Manchester City U18s in the league, Sodje has found the back of the net on thirteen occasions, five of those against Liverpool.
