Benfica Loanee Ebuehi Admits It Was A Dream To Represent Nigeria At 2018 World Cup
Published: February 17, 2021
Haarlem-born right-back Tyronne Ebuehi has admitted that it was dream to play for the Super Eagles at the 2018 World Cup.
Having played the whole of Nigeria's international friendlies before the tournament in Russia, six in total, the Nigeria Football Federation locked up the international future of the Benfica loanee when he came off the bench to replace Bryan Idowu in the 46th minute of Nigeria's 2-0 win against Iceland.
Since the conclusion of the tournament in Russia, Ebuehi has made only appearance for the Super Eagles due to chronic injury issues at Benfica but the versatile defender is now back to his best after joining Twente on a season-long loan last summer.
In a question and answer session at FC Twente TV, Ebuehi said : "I want to reach the top, get the most out of my career. That is my biggest dream. The World Cup I was allowed to play was also a dream I had as a child. Your dreams should also be your goals, I think.
''I am always critical. I think I can do a lot more. I know what is going well about myself, fortunately I am important to the team.
"When I look at my attacking statistics, I can do a lot better. I try to train a lot on my crosses and on finishing. If I also improve that, very nice things can happen."
The 25-year-old was invited for the national team's
2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Sierra Leone last
November but was a non-playing substitute in both games.
