'We Believe He Can Participate' - Villarreal Coach Emery Counting On Chukwueze Vs Salzburg
Published: February 18, 2021Samuel Chukwueze has made a miraculous recovery from injury and was included in Villarreal's traveling squad for Thursday’s UEFA Europa League Round of 32 match against FC Salzburg in Austria.
The Nigeria international underwent a procedure in Munich, Germany exactly two weeks ago and has been inactive for 41 days, it was a pleasant surprise to see the winger return to training this week as it was previously feared he would be spending at least one month on the sidelines.
Coach of the Yellow Submarine Unai Emery is hoping to give Chukwueze a run out against the Austrian opponents.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference before Villarreal's 82nd game in the Europa League, Emery said : "We are recovering players like Chukwueze, who is already with us.. The main thing is to see how the players recover, people are eager.
"Samu had been away for a long time and we have missed him, we have lacked overflow at the top, after the operation, everything went well, with some minor discomfort that he may have.
"So he travels and if he travels it is because we believe he can participate ".
Former Arsenal coach Emery has already used Chukwueze 22 times this season, including four matches in the group stage of the Europa League.
