Manchester United boss Solskjaer confirms Shoretire will be involved against Real Sociedad
Published: February 24, 2021
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that Shola Shoretire will be involved in some capacity when his side take on Real Sociedad in a Europa League round of 32 clash at Old Trafford on Thursday, February 25.
The Anglo-Nigerian winger made his professional debut last weekend, coming off the bench to replace Marcus Rashford in the 89th minute of their 3-1 win over Newcastle United.
His first-ever squad involvement for United's first team was against Real Sociedad last Thursday but he was not utilized off the bench despite the Premier League side winning by a healthy scoreline.
Asked at today's press conference whether Shoretire and Amad have any chance of starting, Solskjaer answered : "Amad and Shola will be involved. They're in the squad, but I'm not going to tell you if they're starting or not."
Shoretire was promoted to the first team bubble around the same time he inked his first professional contract with Manchester United, whom he joined at the age of nine.
History is beckoning for the 17-year-old as he would become the youngest player to represent Manchester United in European competition if he features against Real Sociedad.
