Shola Shoretire was delighted after setting a new record for Manchester United in their goalless draw with Real Sociedad in a Europa League round of 32 second-leg clash on Thursday night.
When Shoretire stepped out onto the Old Trafford turf in the 76th minute to replace Mason Greenwood, he became the club's youngest ever player in a European match, at the age of 17 years and 23 days.
The Anglo-Nigerian winger broke the previous record held by Norman Whiteside who was 17 years and 131 days old when he made his European debut against Valencia on September 15, 1982.
Reacting to his achievement, Shoretire said on Instagram : "What a feeling to make my European debut! To become United’s youngest ever player in Europe is an incredible honour and a proud moment for me and my family! On to the next round 😁🔴".
