Super Eagles striker Success makes first appearance in 399 days for Watford
Published: March 06, 2021
Isaac Success made his season debut for Watford as they beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 at Vicarage Road on Saturday afternoon.
The Nigeria international had not figured for the Hornets for 399 days before this fixture, with his last appearance coming against Everton in a Premier League game on February 1, 2020.
Against Forest this afternoon, manager Xisco Muñoz brought the striker on in the 88nd minute as a replacement for João Pedro.
Success had struggled with fitness issues over the last one year and his injury problems cost him a move to another team in the summer and winter transfer windows.
Adam Masina took a touch and drilled the ball into the bottom corner to score what proved to be the winning goal for the Hornets seventeen minutes into the first half.
Forest thought they had scored an equaliser when Lyle Taylor fired the ball into the back of the net in the 88th minute but the goal was chalked off for offside.
Super Eagles center back William Troost-Ekong went the full ninety and ex-Crystal Palace winger Joseph Hungbo entered the game as a substitute in the 80th minute.
In the provisional standings, Watford are second with 66 points, three more than Brentford who have a game in hand.
