Victor Osimhen has made supportive statements about Napoli coach Gennaro Gattuso, Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr has revealed.
The future of The Partenopei coach is up in the air as a result of his frosty relationship with President Aurelio De Laurentiis and the club being outside the Champions League positions.
Osimhen, who has received medical clearance to return to the pitch for tomorrow's match against Bologna, has struggled in his first season at Napoli due to fitness issues, with the club's record signing scoring just twice in sixteen appearances across all competitions.
"Napoli are an excellent team, but they have been unlucky this season," Rohr told Radio Kiss Kiss.
"Gattuso is a good coach and Victor told me he trusts him a lot and what he's teaching him. I think he can get results already this season".
On Osimhen's fitness, Rohr said : "Unlucky season for Victor so far. I have heard him in these hours and he told me that he is fine, physically and mentally.
"He is ready to return to the field with Napoli and also with the national team".
Osimhen joined Napoli from Lille last summer in exchange for an initial 70 million euros, making the 2015 U17 World Cup winner the most expensive Nigerian player in history.
