Super Falcons striker Oshoala on target as Barcelona crush Fortuna Hjoerring in Champions League
Published: March 10, 2021
Spanish Primera División champions Barcelona showed their superiority over Fortuna Hjørring by thrashing the Danish side 5-0 in a UEFA Women's Champions League clash at Nord Energi Arena on Wednesday evening.
Super Falcons skipper Asisat Oshoala entered the game as a substitute eight minutes into the second half.
A double from Aitana Bonmatí and goals from Mariona Caldentey (penalty), Oshoala and Marta Torrejón earned Barcelona a spot in the quarterfinals of the Champions League for the sixth consecutive season.
Twelve minutes from time, the Nigeria international made it 4-0 when she out-sprinted her marker and cooly slotted past goalkeeper Bouhaddi after a fantastic pass from Melanie Serrano.
Barcelona defeated Fortuna Hjørring 4-0 in the first leg a week ago so have progressed 9-0 on aggregate.
Chelsea, holders Lyon and Wolfsburg are already through to the last eight ahead of the quarterfinal and semifinal draw in Nyon on March 12.
Oshoala was in the Barcelona side beaten 4-1 by Lyon in the 2018-19 Champions League final.
