'Target is to be a first team player' - 'New Wilfried Zaha' eyes Arsenal senior debut after first goal for club
Published: March 17, 2021
Dutch-born Nigerian winger Joel Ideho, who has drawn comparisons with Crystal Palace's Ivory Coast star Wilfried Zaha, is confident he will be playing for Arsenal's first team in the coming years.
The former Ajax Amsterdam wonderkid scored one of the best goals in last season's UEFA Youth League when he lobbed the ball over Midtjylland goalkeeper from distance.
Having put himself in the shop window, some Premier League clubs were battling to sign the winger including Southampton but Arsenal eventually won the race for his signature.
Ideho finally opened his goalscoring account for an Arsenal side as the U18s were beaten by Norwich City last weekend and he has set himself fresh goals.
"The football in the Netherlands is more technical then over here, here is more intense and more running," Ideho told allnigeriasoccer.com.
"My target is to make my debut as soon as possible and be a first team player."
Since joining Arsenal, Ideho has made appearances for Arsenal's U18, U21 and U23 sides, logging 418 minutes in ten matches across all competitions.
