'They've got Iheanacho' - Manchester United coach Solskjaer wary of red-hot Leicester City striker
Published: March 20, 2021
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has highlighted that Kelechi Iheanacho is in brilliant form before their meeting with Leicester City in the quarterfinals of the Emirates FA Cup at the King Power Stadium on Sunday, March 21.
The Nigeria international goes into the match looking to score for the fourth consecutive game in all competitions before traveling to Lagos for international duty with the Super Eagles.
Solskjaer has identified Iheanacho among the players that must be stopped in the Leicester City side, the others being Jamie Vardy, Youri Tielemans and Ayoze Perez.
The Foxes number 14 has already scored and assisted a goal against Manchester United during his Manchester City days, back in the 2016-2017 season.
"Every game has been one where you have to dig deep to win. This is another one, Leicester away. Of course, we drew in the league against them and we know we have to defend well against them," Solskjaer said at the pre-match press conference.
"They’ve got [Jamie] Vardy and [Kelechi] Iheanacho, with the form they’re showing, and they’ve got quality in other players, the passes of [Youri] Tielemans, the runs of [Ayoze] Perez. So we know we’ve got a game on our hands."
In terms of goals-per-minute, the Emirates FA Cup is Iheanacho's favourite competition as a professional, with eleven goals netted in 917 minutes of action spread across seventeen games - a goal every 83 minutes.
