Super Eagles defender Balogun provides assist for Scottish champions Rangers in draw with Celtic
Published: March 21, 2021Scottish champions Glasgow Rangers remain unbeaten after 33 matches in the Premiership following their 1-1 draw with Celtic in the Old Firm derby on Sunday afternoon.
Rangers were back in action three days after they were knocked out of the Europa League by Czech side Slavia Prague.
Nigeria internationals Leon Balogun and Joe Aribo started for the Light Blues but were substituted in the 56th and 77th minute respectively.
Mohamed Elyounoussi headed Celtic ahead in the 23rd minute after a fantastic delivery from Odsonne Edouard.
Alfredo Morelos' right-footed shot from very close range after a header from Balogun to the back post restored parity for Steven Gerrard's team at minute 38.
It was Balogun's third assist of the season having set up goals in previous matches against Aberdeen and Dundee United.
Balogun and Aribo have five post-split fixtures to look forward to upon their return from international duty with the Super Eagles, starting from a round 34 clash on April 10/11.
