2021 AFCONQ : Republic of Benin hold first training session in Cotonou pre-Nigeria
Published: March 23, 2021
Republic of Benin have started training as a group in preparation for their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against three-time African champions Nigeria.
Several of their French-based players flew to Cotonou earlier this week aboard a private jet.
According to the Fédération Béninoise de Football, manager Michel Dussuyer worked with all the players he has called up for the two upcoming games against the Super Eagles and Sierra Leone.
The Squirrels' first training session was held at the Mathieu Kérékou Stadium in Cotonou on Tuesday.
If the training photos are anything to go by, the Benin players were in high spirits as they prepared to face their illustrious neighbors.
Heading into the fixture against Nigeria, Benin are trailing their opponent by one point having accumulated seven points from their first four matches.
